- 01
Check the unpaid amount on your card statement. Different categories such as retail purchases, cash withdrawal and EMI conversions can attract different charges; this tool models one fixed rate only.
- 02
Read the finance charge or interest rate in your issuer's Key Fact Statement and convert a quoted monthly rate into the matching annual nominal rate only if appropriate (monthly rate × 12 for this specific model).
- 03
Enter a fixed monthly repayment you actually intend to make and an optional extra payment. This is NOT the minimum amount due published by your card issuer.
- 04
Compare repayments and interest. Indian issuers must prominently disclose minimum-payment implications, and loss of the interest-free period can change the real statement. Verify RBI and issuer instructions.
What the model leaves out
RBI requires issuers to explain minimum amount due and the effect of rolling balances. This tool does not set or confirm legal minimum amounts, interest-free periods, GST on finance charges, penalties, fees, monthly/daily compounding variations, cash advance fees, new spending or card-specific conditions. The model uses nominal yearly interest/12, not the bank's actual statement accrual.
Questions about credit card dues
Can paying only Minimum Amount Due avoid interest?
Not necessarily. Paying only a minimum can allow interest charges to continue and may remove the purchase interest-free period. Consult your issuer's MITC and RBI guidance.
Is GST on credit card interest included?
No. GST or other charges on the finance fee are not simulated. The total may underestimate actual issuer charges.
What if the bank offers EMI conversion?
EMI plans can have processing fees and different conditions. This is a single-balance monthly-payoff illustration, not an EMI product offer.
